A cotton fabric for use as a bed sheet or wrapper. Hand woven from cotton yarns in plain, twill, diamond or honeycomb weave. -

A Chaddar, but 54-in. wide and much longer. A floral or plain cross-border or heading is woven. Indian term. -
3 Palla
An oblong piece of cloth, folded about one third over the upper part, and fastened on the shoulders by brooches. This was the ordinary dress of the ancient Greek maidens. It was a very simple and elegant costume and imparted dignity to the figure (see Peplum). A special hand loom woven all-silk fabric, made in Italy and used locally by the better-class peasants for garments, principally underwear. It is plain weave and often has both warp and weft stripes. The coloured yarn in the weft is either cotton or rayon. Indian term for the Chaddar cloth when made with figured borders.
